About EMP

Etobicoke Musical Productions (EMP) is a not-for-profit theatre company incorporated under the laws of Ontario. Formed in 1965 and incorporated in 1989, EMP is a member of Arts Etobicoke, the Mississuaga Arts Council, Association of Community Theatres - Central Ontario (ACT-CO), Theatre Ontario, and The Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology. The Group is administered by a Board of Directors elected annually from and by the members. Every member can vote, and anyone who is a member for two consecutive years can run for the Board.

From 1978 to 2013, EMP produced two shows per year; one in the spring and one in the fall, running for 8 performances each. Since 2013, we have been performing one major fall show at Meadowvale Theatre in Mississauga as part of the Encore Series. For each production, we engage a director, musical director and choreographer. All others involved on stage and in various production areas are volunteers. We typically spend $60,000 on each production with the major costs being facilities rental, production royalties, costumes, sets lighting/sound, music, advertising and promotion.

Visit our "History" page for more on the Group's history and achievements.
